Jacques Rivette (1/3/28 - 29/1/16) was most commonly associated with the French New Wave and the magazine Cahiers du Cinéma. This 1971 art house epic runs for 12 hours and 40 minutes and stars Francois Truffaut's alter ego and his favourite leading man, Jean-Pierre Léaud plus a host of actors of the French independent cinema scene of the 70s, namely Juliet Berto, Bulle Ogier and Michele Moretti. There are bonus extras, documentaries plus a 120-page booklet included in the box set. Out 1, an immensely involving, almost addictive blend of film, literature and theatre, has rightly been hailed as the Holy Grail of modern French cinema!
