Shiver of the Vampires (all-region blu-ray)

The Shiver of the Vampires (Le Frisson des Vampires) is a most unorthdox vampire film; by turns, it is magical, eccentric, poetical, erotic, philosophical and, whenever the vampire cousins are onscreen together, surprisingly funny. It is also unique among vampire films for offering some sort of backstory of warring paganism and Christianity that explains why a vampire would feel revulsion for the sign of a crucifix. Produced and directed by Jean Rollin in 1971, SHIVER is also the most visually inventive. Bonus material on this disc includes introduction by Jean Rollin and a 40-minute interview with the director conducted by Dr. Patricia MacCormack. There is also a 20-page booklet with an essay by Tim Lucas, editor of Video Watchdog.
