The 'Reading Naked Lunch' project produced by Hal Wilner, and was shelved for more than 20 years is getting a second life as an album with assistance from the independent musician/producer King Khan, best known for his raucous live shows as an eccentric punk and soul frontman. The album finds Burroughs doing the "unspeakable portions" of Naked Lunch - think sex, drugs and defecation - in pop-song-length chunks across 13 tracks, using a variety of amusing voices and a lot of foul language. The album also features the musical backing by avant jazz veterans Bill Frisell, pianist Wayne Horvitz and the violinist Eyvind Kang. The good Dr. Benway is back from the grave.
