These 10 CDs (and DVD) collect together solo work, compositions and collaborations made between 1972 and 2022 by percussionist and lyricist Chris Cutler and include as well as three previously released solo CDs (Solo, Twice around the Earth, and There and Back Again), more than five hours of unreleased materials, as well as a double CD collection of tracks culled from official recordings featuring Henry Cow, Art Bears, Cassiber, News From Babel, Aqsak Mabou, Duck and Cover, Peter Blegvad, Rene Lussier, The Work, Les Quatre guitaristes de L'apocalypso Bar, Pere Ubu, The (ec) Nudes, Domestic Stories, Songs Between, NORMA, The Science Group, Cutler/Frith, Cutler/Parkins, Cutler/Dimuzio, Cutler/MacLean, Vril, Brainville III and Yumi Hara. Apart from anything else, it's a fascinating and wide-ranging introduction to a world of music that has endured for half a century without compromise, a music that moves easily between rock, experimental music, chamber ensembles, orchestras, soundscape works, electronics, experimental rock, contemporary composition, improvisation and sound composition. Also included in the box is Inside Broadcast, a 22-hour radio commission for Radio Art Zone. And the collection is completed by a fat book of documentation, artwork, published and unpublished texts and photographs. CHRIS CUTLER From Henry Cow to the Residents, Gong to Pere Ubu, from pure improvisation to guitar instrumentals, Chris Cutler has drummed his way through the story of amplified experimental music in bands, orchestras, small ensembles - and on his own (with his unique electrified kit). He has worked in theatre, dance, film and radio, runs a record label, is a serial lyricist, has published three theoretical books, runs a lecture/podcast series for the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona and is responsible for a number of soundscape productions.
